Universal Studios and the Backlot

Postby Rollerman87 » Fri Nov 06, 2009 10:06 am

So, my mom wants to go to Grinchmas right before Christmas this year, but wants to know if the tour really is back to its reguar size (they're advertising that the new sets are done). I told her I'd ask the professionals. I got stuck with asking you ;)

But really, any info about construction, new things, etc., would be helpful. I must say, I'm a little out of the loop :(

I don't believe the sets are complete yet however Corey would know best. Even if they aren't complete, a trip to Universal is never a disappointment.

To answer your question, I don't believe the backlot has reopened just yet, but will in the near future. I am not 100% sure about that because I haven't had the chance to visit the park during a normal operating day in awhile. As for Grinchmas, it's a great event for Universal Studios Hollywood. I believe the budget for this year's event will be bigger than last year, so you won't be disappointed.

Could not agree more.

Until they opened The Simpson's ride, I had never stepped foot in the park and couldn't believe I had gone so long avoiding such a beautiful park practically a half hour drive away. That experience alone has brought me back into the park with other friends, and this October I was happy to discover that the Halloween Event trumps anything at a the other Southern California parks.

Although I haven't been for Christmas yet, I'd assume everything would be extremely well done for that event as well, even if you may not see all the new back lot stuff.

i have been to Universal several times since ive gotten myself an annual pass. the last time i went which was memorial day, the tram took us thru the rebuilt backlot sets. looks AMAZING!! Nice how they have updated it and not just rebuilt the same old facades. cant wait til King Kong 3d opens up. i still remember going as a kid and the tram used to stop on the lower lot, and we went thru the sound effects stage with the old 2001 stuff. ahhh memories!

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe King Kong 3D is now open and has been open for a week or two.
